Open Age Welcomes The Posh Club

An Afternoon of Glamour, Laughter and Community

On Friday, 11th April, Open Age was thrilled to host The Posh Club in partnership with Morley College, North Kensington. The College kindly provided their fabulous theatre space and additional funding support, helping us deliver a truly unforgettable afternoon for 100 of our members. Further funding from City Living Local Life and Westminster Ward Funds enabled us to bring this unique event to life.

So, what is The Posh Club?

A tongue-in-cheek, 'posh' 1940s-style afternoon tea event featuring live cabaret performances, volunteer waitstaff in black tie and frilly aprons, vintage crockery, and plenty of tea and cake — all served up with a heavy dose of fun and nostalgia. Our members enjoyed a delightful afternoon of entertainment, laughter, and warm conversation in a welcoming, inclusive space.

Tickets for the event were priced at just £5, and it proved to be a sell-out success — with music, dancing, and theatrical performances creating a wonderfully over-the-top, joyous atmosphere.

Simon Casson, Producer of The Posh Club, shared his thoughts:

"The Posh Club with Open Age was a storming success. It was such enormous fun on the day — all the dancing and socialising. The participants from Open Age were an extremely ethnically and culturally diverse bunch of older Londoners… how many nations of origin and heritages were present? Must have been dozens, all dressed up to the nines. Your community do west London proud."

"The Open Age volunteers were wonderful — open, hardworking, friendly and generous. The venue was an excellent choice with good, modern facilities and genuinely lovely, user-friendly staff. I’ve never danced so much on a Friday lunchtime on a packed dance floor. We’d love to do more events with Angela and the gang!"

Capturing the Moment

We were delighted to welcome Ben Tysoe-Bailey, Digital Communications Manager for RBKC and Westminster, who attended to gather footage and interviews for a case study and video highlighting this wonderful project and our valued partners. We look forward to sharing this with you soon!
